Targeted Police Operations Lead to Firearm Seizure and Multiple Arrests

A series of coordinated police operations carried out across the island on Tuesday resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, and significant sums of cash, law enforcement officials confirmed.

Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force (CIDTF), working in collaboration with the Gang and Guns Suppression Unit (GAGSU), executed several search warrants as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activity and recover illegal weapons.

During the operations, a number of individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of housebreaking and larceny. Police also recovered a .25-calibre pistol along with a magazine containing six matching rounds of ammunition. In addition, officers seized large quantities of Eastern Caribbean and Canadian currency.

All seized items were transported to a police station for further examination. The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda reiterated its commitment to combating crime, removing illegal firearms from communities, and ensuring the safety and security of residents throughout the country.

Police are urging members of the public to continue working alongside law enforcement by reporting suspicious or criminal activity to the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

  1. At the same time, multiple arrests highlight an uncomfortable truth: illegal guns are present, and criminal activity continues to test community safety despite ongoing enforcement efforts.
