New Calypso Fraternity Launched to Preserve and Promote Antigua & Barbuda’s Musical Heritage
Antigua and Barbuda’s rich Calypso tradition has a new national platform with the official launch of the Calypso Heritage Fraternity of Antigua & Barbuda (CHFAB), an organisation dedicated to uniting Calypsonians, preserving cultural heritage, and elevating the genre both locally and internationally.
The fraternity, which carries the motto “Uniting Voices, Preserving Heritage,” aims to foster collaboration among Calypso artists, promote professional growth, and safeguard the traditions that have shaped the country’s musical identity for generations. CHFAB also seeks to advocate for the rights and recognition of Calypso artistes, ensuring that their contributions are celebrated and supported.
CHFAB’s mission extends beyond performance, focusing on community engagement, mentorship, and education initiatives designed to inspire new talent and connect Calypso music with younger generations. Leaders of the fraternity emphasise that this effort is about strengthening the Calypso community and providing artists with opportunities to achieve international standards of excellence.
The organisation is inviting Calypsonians, cultural partners, government officials, and members of the public to participate in this historic initiative. By joining CHFAB, supporters can help ensure that Calypso continues to thrive as a vital part of Antigua and Barbuda’s cultural heritage.
Further information regarding membership, events, and ways to get involved will be announced in the coming weeks as the fraternity begins its work to preserve, celebrate, and promote Calypso music at home and on the global stage.
