Caretaker for St. Philip’s North, Randy Baltimore, has resigned from his position as Principal Inspector of Customs within the Antigua and Barbuda Customs & Excise Division, describing the move as “the ultimate sacrifice to serve.”
In a press release issued Thursday, Baltimore confirmed that his resignation takes effect February 20, 2026.
“It has long been my utmost goal to offer myself to the people of St. Philip’s North not in words alone, but through steady work, genuine presence, and a commitment to serve with integrity and heart,” he stated. “Over time, that call has only grown stronger.”
Baltimore said the decision was not made lightly, noting that his career in Customs has been more than just employment but a significant chapter in his life of public service.
“Customs has been more than a job; it has been a meaningful chapter of my life and public service. It shaped me, challenged me, strengthened me, and allowed me to contribute to the development and protection of our nation,” he said, expressing gratitude for the training, experience and professional growth he gained during his tenure.
However, he indicated that the time had come to step forward “in a new way” and dedicate himself fully to the people of St. Philip’s North.
Baltimore also thanked the residents of the constituency for placing their trust in him as caretaker, saying their encouragement and support have meant more than he could adequately express.
“Together, we have done meaningful work and with that same trust and unity, we are now stepping forward into a bigger role and a deeper level of representation and service,” he added.
He extended appreciation to the management and staff of the Customs & Excise Division for their support over the years and for the relationships built during his tenure.
As he transitions into this next phase, Baltimore said he does so humbly and with hope for what lies ahead, calling for the prayers and partnership of the people of St. Philip’s North.
The resignation comes as the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission moves toward organising a by-election in the constituency following the resignation of long-serving Member of Parliament Sir Robin Yearwood.
Baltimore is widely expected to contest the seat in the upcoming by-election.

Alex resigned, also I believe. Where is that story
Well if he wants to run for office that’s what he has to do. He might end up like Rawdon and ultimately have a seat in the Lower House
step forward in a new way huh…
