A driver narrowly avoided serious injury early this morning after a lime green Lexus IS overturned along the roadside in Five Islands, leaving the vehicle resting on its roof beneath a tree.

The crash scene, which drew the attention of residents in the normally quiet community west of St. John’s, showed the car with significant damage along the driver’s side. The vehicle appeared to have left the roadway, struck a tree, and flipped before coming to a stop on a grassy embankment.

Despite the dramatic nature of the crash and the visible damage to the vehicle, the motorist reportedly sustained only minor injuries.

Investigators are now working to determine what caused the accident. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, police are expected to examine factors such as speed, road conditions, and possible driver error.
