Picket Planned as Mother of Vondè Bowers Demands Answers in Son’s Killing

A public picket is being organised in support of justice for Vondè Bowers, as his mother intensifies calls for accountability and transparency in the handling of the case.

A flyer circulating on social media under the heading “Picket Alert” announces planned action to coincide with upcoming court appearances on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th February 2026 at 2 p.m. at the High Court, under Legal Affairs and Social & Urban Transformation. The flyer features a photograph of the young man and the words, “A bright life ended too early by violence. Never to be forgotten.”

At the heart of the planned demonstration is concern over the reported transfer of the juvenile accused in Bowers’ murder to the Denis Bowers Rehabilitation Center.

The grieving mother has publicly questioned why the accused was moved from the 1735 facility, despite what she says is a law prohibiting juveniles from being housed there. She however claims other juveniles remain at 1735, raising concerns about what she describes as unequal treatment.

“Reverse the transfer now because no space up Denise Bowers for the others they left down at 1735,” she wrote in a social media post that has since gained significant traction.

The flyer also calls for amendments to the Juvenile Act and poses pointed questions about the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing, including whether the accused had accomplices and why there have been no recent public updates on the matter.

The planned picket is expected to draw family members, friends, and community supporters who say they are seeking clarity, consistency in the application of the law, and justice for Bowers.

  1. First, my deepest and sincerest condolences to this grieving mother. Secondly, anyone in a similar situation would want to see justice done period. However, housing juvenile offenders with grown men is not it (in my humble opinion), and there are laws against it that must be followed irrespective of the offender or the offense.

  3. We need to hear from the Social Transformation Minister Mr Turner. Tell us why that boy is housed at Denise Bowers. You know his parents, or you’re a friend and a company to his family. Why isn’t he in jail.
