Twin I Payne celebrates Agrifest victory
The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has formally commended Antiguan farmer Twin I Payne for his outstanding performance at the 2026 Agrifest in St. Croix, where he captured the top prize for the second consecutive year.
Payne, representing Twin Stod Enterprise, secured the coveted award at the premier agricultural showcase in the United States Virgin Islands after impressing judges with the quality and presentation of his livestock and crops. His back-to-back triumph has been hailed as a remarkable achievement, reflecting consistency, innovation and high standards in agricultural production.
Cabinet members described the accomplishment as a proud moment for Antigua and Barbuda, noting that Payne’s continued success places the nation prominently on the regional agricultural stage.
They highlighted his dedication, discipline and commitment to excellence, underscoring the vital role agriculture plays in strengthening both national and regional food security.
In recognition of the financial costs associated with participating in Agrifest, Cabinet approved a contribution to assist Payne with expenses incurred in attending the event. Officials said the gesture forms part of the Government’s broader strategy to encourage competitiveness and reward excellence within the agricultural sector.
Cabinet also pledged ongoing support for Payne and other farmers who represent Antigua and Barbuda at regional and international agricultural events. Leaders emphasised that such achievements inspire local farmers—particularly young people—and contribute to building resilience and sustainability in food production.
The Government reaffirmed its commitment to advancing agricultural development, supporting farmers, and promoting food security as central pillars of national growth and economic stability.
