The Dominican Republic’s Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Alexandra Victoria, has underscored the strength of bilateral ties between the two nations, describing their relationship as a reflection of a shared Caribbean identity.
Ambassador Victoria delivered the remarks during a reception last Thursday evening commemorating the Dominican Republic’s 182nd anniversary of Independence. The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, and invited guests.

Among those in attendance were Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Minister of Foreign Affairs E.P. Chet Greene, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Victoria emphasised that the bond between Antigua and Barbuda and the Dominican Republic extends beyond formal diplomacy.
“We are stronger when we are united; our ties continue to grow through trade, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges, always anchored in mutual respect and sincere friendship,” she said. “This evening we celebrate more than protocol; we celebrate human connections that bind our countries together and strengthen our Caribbean family.”
She noted that cooperation between the two countries continues to expand across several sectors, reinforcing what she described as a partnership grounded in shared values and regional solidarity.

The Ambassador also expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda for what she called their “friendship, hospitality and partnership,” and voiced hope that both nations will continue to nurture close and enduring relations.
The reception formed part of activities marking the Dominican Republic’s Independence anniversary, highlighting the longstanding diplomatic and cultural ties between the two Caribbean nations.

This is the kind of diplomacy we need more of in the Caribbean. We’re small nations, yes, but when we stand together, we’re powerful! trade, education, culture, and opportunity for our people. I hope these speeches translate into real, tangible benefits for both countries.
