Police Operation Nets Firearm, Magazine, and Two Suspects

Two individuals are currently being held in police custody after a firearm was confiscated during a collaborative police operation.

On Friday, 27 February, at approximately 4:50 p.m., police officers from various specialized units—including the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force, Special Services Unit, Firearms and Evidence Recovery Unit, Serious Crime Unit, K-9 Unit, and the Police Armory—conducted a coordinated stop-and-search operation along Simon Boulevard Main Road.

During the operation, a silver Suzuki motor jeep was stopped and searched.

A firearm, a magazine, and other items of evidential significance were seized.

The two men were subsequently arrested on suspicion of firearm possession and transported to the St. John’s Police Station for questioning.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is committed to intensifying operations aimed at removing illegal firearms from the streets of the nation.

  1. This is exactly why these operations are necessary. Too many illegal guns are floating around, and it’s innocent people who end up suffering. I’m relieved the firearm was taken off the streets, but it’s also disturbing to think how easily these weapons are moving around. We need tougher consequences and consistent enforcement.
