Police have confirmed that the partially decomposed body discovered inside a vehicle at the Old Ottos School compound on February 2 has been identified as Peter Thompson.
The confirmation was made by the head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Assistant Commissioner of Police Lisbon Michael, during a press conference on Tuesday.
According to Michael, investigators are currently treating the matter as a suspected homicide while awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
“….We are now looking at a date for the post-mortem. At this time, we are investigating along the lines of a homicide, but once the post-mortem is completed, we will make a final determination regarding the cause of death,” Michael said.
The decomposed body was discovered inside a vehicle on the compound of the former Old Ottos School, an area that is currently used as a panyard.
Police reported that the discovery was first communicated through the 911 emergency hotline. Officers responded quickly to the scene and secured the area while investigators began processing the site.
Authorities have remained cautious about releasing certain details surrounding the case. Michael declined to specify exactly where inside the vehicle — described as appearing to be a jeep — the body was located.
The investigation remains ongoing as police await forensic findings that will help determine the circumstances surrounding Thompson’s death.
