Students at Grace Christian Academy received a special visit on Thursday morning by the country’s leader, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who also made a financial donation to support a tree-planting project.
The visit followed a request from a Grade One teacher whose class has been studying national leaders as part of their Social Studies curriculum. The invitation was extended so the students could meet the Prime Minister they had been learning about in class.
Browne accepted the invitation and used the opportunity to speak with the students about the importance of education, good behaviour, and environmental responsibility.
During his remarks, the Prime Minister encouraged the children to stay focused on their studies and develop habits that will help them succeed in life. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the environment and keeping communities clean.
As part of his visit, Browne made a financial contribution to the school to assist with planting trees on the compound. He urged the students to take responsibility for caring for the trees and maintaining their surroundings.
“Plant trees in your yard and at your school and take care of them,” Browne told the students, noting that trees help make Antigua and Barbuda greener and more beautiful.
School officials welcomed the visit and thanked the Prime Minister for supporting the initiative, noting that the tree-planting project will help improve the school environment for students.
