Another Last-Minute Public Service Shuffle Sends Pilgrim to Creative Industries Instead; Dalso Remains in Education

In a sudden and unexpected move within the public service, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Clarence Pilgrim, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Creative Industries.

Sources indicate that the transfer took place abruptly and appeared to be a last-minute adjustment to the original reshuffle.

Meanwhile, Sharon Stevens has been appointed the new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Stevens previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Creative Industries.

According to sources familiar with the changes, Permanent Secretary Ena Dalso will remain in the Ministry of Education.

The decision follows public pushback and growing sentiment among residents who argued that Dalso should continue in the role after what many have described as exceptional performance in the ministry.

The apparent last-minute adjustment has sparked quiet discussion in administrative and political circles, with many now watching closely to see whether further changes within the public service may follow.

Director General of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, Maurice Merchant, said the assignment of Permanent Secretaries ultimately falls within the authority of the Public Service Commission.

He explained that the Commission has the discretion to assign senior public officers based on the needs and exigencies of the public service.
