Committal hearing delayed in death of Guyanese visitor

Committal adjourned again for man accused of killing young Guyanese woman

A committal hearing for the 24-year-old man accused in the May death of a visiting Guyanese law student has been adjourned again until June 3, with the prosecution given until April 15 to serve the defence with the case file.

Victor Ince of Lightfoot West returned to court this morning where Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel set the new date for his committal proceedings, while also ordering the prosecution to provide the defence with the case file ahead of the hearing.

Authorities have charged Ince with two offences: forcibly seizing and confining 19-year-old Joyleen Abraham, and unlawfully causing her death.

The incident occurred on May 7, 2025, at Judges Estate. Abraham, a University of Guyana law student who had travelled to Antigua to visit a personal friend, was discovered unresponsive along a by-road linking New Winthorpes Village to the Jabberwock main road.
