PM Browne presented award from the International Association of World Peace Advocates by Dr. Martin Kofi Danso

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been recognised on the global stage for his consistent advocacy for peace, receiving a prestigious award from the International Association of World Peace Advocates.

The honour acknowledges Browne’s outspoken calls for an end to conflicts worldwide, as well as his firm position that the Caribbean must remain a “Zone of Peace.” His stance, which emphasizes diplomacy over division, has resonated with international peace advocates.

The award was presented by Dr. Martin Kofi Danso, who commended the prime minister’s unwavering voice against war and his belief that conflict brings only suffering, loss, and destruction.

During the presentation, discussions extended beyond recognition to future collaboration. Dr. Danso outlined a proposal for a strategic partnership between the IAWPA and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. Key elements of the proposal include the development of an aviation corridor to establish direct flights between the Caribbean and Africa, as well as expanded trade routes, particularly with Ghana, aimed at strengthening economic ties between the regions.

In a symbolic gesture reflecting shared heritage and unity, Dr. Danso also presented Browne with a traditional Ghanaian outfit. The prime minister proudly donned the attire, underscoring his continued commitment to Pan-African ideals and deeper connections between Africa and the Caribbean.

The recognition marks another moment of international engagement for Antigua and Barbuda, highlighting its leadership’s voice in global peace advocacy and regional cooperation.
