
Police have identified the woman who died after being found unresponsive inside a vehicle in the Freetown area on Friday evening as 48-year-old Karen Pigott of Wireless Road.
The incident occurred shortly after 6:20 p.m. on March 27, when officers responded to reports that a motor vehicle had driven into a hedge along a by-road in Freetown. Upon arrival, police discovered a grey Toyota Ractis stationary on the eastern side of the roadway with Pigott slumped in the driver’s seat and appearing unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services personnel were summoned to the scene and conducted initial examinations but detected no signs of life. A medical doctor later attended and officially pronounced her dead at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Investigators have indicated that foul play is not suspected at this time. However, inquiries remain ongoing as authorities seek to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police Administration has extended condolences to Pigott’s family and loved ones as they mourn her sudden passing.
The incident has drawn concern among residents in the wider St. John’s area, as police continue their investigations into what led to the tragic discovery Friday evening.
