Census field work is currently on hold due to imminent elections
The Census Office has announced a temporary suspension of all field operations tied to the ongoing 2025 Population and Housing Census, citing the impending general elections.
Officials say the move is necessary to preserve the integrity and neutrality of both the national census and the electoral process, which are considered equally critical and demand significant coordination and public engagement.
Effective immediately, all in-person census activities—including household visits and data collection—have been halted.
Enumerators and field staff have been instructed to stand down during this period, although internal administrative work will continue where required.
The Census Office emphasized that the pause is only temporary, with plans already underway to resume field operations once the elections conclude. A revised schedule and further updates are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
Authorities are urging the public to remain supportive, noting that the success of the census relies heavily on national cooperation and participation.
