Extended Hours at Community Health Centres Now Set for April 13
Residents will have to wait a little longer for expanded access to primary healthcare services, as the Ministry of Health has pushed back the start date for extended hours at select community clinics.
The initiative, originally scheduled to begin on April 1, will now take effect on April 13, 2026, to allow for final logistical and operational preparations.
Once implemented, the Gray’s Farm Health Centre and the Clare Hall Health Centre will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, offering greater access to care, particularly for patients needing evening services.
Health officials say the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen community-based healthcare and ease the burden on the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Patients requiring advanced treatment will continue to be referred appropriately, with ambulance services available where necessary.
