Water Supply to Be Temporarily Interrupted in Newfield as APUA Continues Mainline Upgrade

The APUA Water Business Unit has advised customers that maintenance work is continuing across sections of the ageing water distribution network in the Point Area, with current efforts focused along North Street in St. John’s.

Crews remained active throughout the Easter weekend as part of a phased plan aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the system. The works are targeting longstanding infrastructure challenges that have contributed to leaks and service interruptions in the area.

As operations progress, teams are expected to move along Newgate Street, with plans to reach the vicinity of the Police Station and the Market Street junction by Monday. Residents and businesses in and around these locations may experience temporary disruptions while upgrades and repairs are carried out.

APUA is assuring customers that the work is critical to strengthening the distribution network and reducing the frequency of future outages.

The utility company says efforts are being made to complete the works as efficiently as possible and restore normal service in the shortest time.

In the meantime, customers are being encouraged to store adequate water supplies and practise conservation where possible.

APUA has thanked the public for their patience and understanding as improvements to the network continue.
