The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) launched what Chairman E.P. Chet Greene described as a “convention of all conventions” on Sunday, as hundreds of supporters flooded the People’s Place in a vibrant display of red, rhythm, and renewed political momentum.
From the very start, the event unfolded with unmistakable pomp and flair. Supporters waving flags, blowing horns, and chanting filled the atmosphere, setting the tone for what party officials say marks the beginning of a new political chapter—a “Renaissance” era for Antigua and Barbuda.

All 17 ABLP candidates made their entrance in celebratory fashion, each accompanied by family members, friends, and enthusiastic supporters. The candidates danced, turning the convention into a festival-like procession that blended politics with culture and community pride.
Taking to the stage, Greene delivered a confident and forward-looking message, declaring that the future of Antigua and Barbuda “cannot be gambled.” He framed the convention not just as a political gathering, but as a defining moment for the country’s direction.

“This is a convention of all conventions… one of renaissance, a new era for this country,” Greene said to loud applause. “We are moving forward, aiming higher.”
He emphasized that the party’s vision goes beyond traditional economic indicators, arguing that governance must focus on people, opportunity, and inclusivity.

“It is not just about economic growth and numbers,” Greene stated. “Antigua and Barbuda stands strong, unemployment is at its lowest level, and opportunities are expanding. These are facts—these are the foundations of the renaissance.”
According to Greene, the progress achieved under the ABLP did not occur by chance but is the result of deliberate leadership grounded in service.

“These results did not happen by accident. They are the outcome of leadership that understands government must serve all people, all the time,” he added.
The convention remains ongoing, with party supporters continuing to pour into the venue, reinforcing the ABLP’s show of strength ahead of the upcoming election season.

With music, movement, and a message centered on continuity and progress, the ABLP has signaled that its campaign is not only underway—but energized and determined to carry its “Renaissance” vision forward.

That was like a pure movie….
