A bomb scare at Police Headquarters on American Road triggered a full-scale emergency response on Monday morning, forcing the evacuation of staff and temporarily halting operations.

According to a statement from police, an anonymous caller phoned in a threat around 9:45 a.m., claiming that an explosive device had been planted inside the building.

Authorities immediately activated emergency protocols, clearing the premises as officers and staff were ushered to safety.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, supported by a K-9 explosive detection unit, swept the building and its surrounding areas in a high-alert operation.

After an extensive search, officials confirmed that no explosive device or suspicious item was found. An “all-clear” was later issued, allowing normal operations to resume.

Police have strongly condemned the hoax, warning that such threats create panic, disrupt critical services, and will be treated as serious criminal offences.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has since launched a probe to track down the caller behind the threat.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact CID at 462-3913 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 800-TIPS (8477).

Authorities are reminding the public that false reports of this nature carry severe consequences and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
