Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has accused the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) of borrowing heavily from the United Progressive Party (UPP) following the launch of the party’s campaign website and policy platform.

Speaking at a political meeting last night Pringle said the UPP recently rolled out its campaign website and introduced its manifesto, describing the process as deliberate and people-focused. He claimed that shortly after, the ABLP moved to mirror several of the party’s proposals and presentation.

“If you put the two manifestos side by side, it shows that the UPP is a visionary organisation. We lead, we don’t follow,” Pringle told supporters.

He argued that the UPP’s plans were developed through extensive consultation with a wide cross-section of society, including workers, business owners, pensioners, and community groups. According to Pringle, this engagement allowed the party to craft policies that directly address concerns such as the cost of living, crime, water shortages, and infrastructure challenges.

Pringle suggested that the ABLP’s response was an attempt to replicate those ideas rather than present original solutions, positioning the UPP as the party setting the national agenda ahead of the general election.

Despite the criticism, he maintained that voters would ultimately recognise the difference between what he described as “copied ideas” and a fully developed plan backed by consultation and experience.

With election day approaching, Pringle urged citizens to examine both parties’ proposals closely, insisting that the UPP remains the stronger option to lead Antigua and Barbuda forward.
