ABLP Flips St Mary’s South as Dwayne George Defeats Kelvin “Shugy” Simon
St. Mary’s South has shifted political hands, with the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) securing a decisive victory in the constituency during Thursday’s General Elections.
ABLP candidate Dwayne George emerged as the winner after capturing the majority of votes, unseating the United Progressive Party (UPP) incumbent Kelvin “Shugy” Simon in what is being described as a significant political turnaround.
The result marks a key pickup for the ABLP, which successfully flipped the seat from the opposition, strengthening its overall position as results continue to come in across the country.
Supporters of the ABLP celebrated the win as a breakthrough in a constituency that had been under UPP control, while the loss represents a setback for the opposition in one of the closely watched races of the night.
Final vote counts are expected to provide further clarity on the margin of victory, but early indications confirm a clear majority for George in St. Mary’s South.
