All 15 re-elected members of ABLP
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has indicated that several re-elected ministers are likely to remain in their current portfolios as his new administration seeks to maintain momentum on major national projects.
Speaking to State Media following his swearing in, Browne said continuity will be important in key ministries where significant work is already underway.
He pointed to Education Minister Daryll Matthew, noting the ongoing expansion of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.
Browne also said Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene is expected to continue leading preparations for CHOGM, stressing that with a significant amount of planning already completed, changing the minister at this stage would not be advisable.
The Prime Minister also signalled that Maria Browne is likely to return to Public Works, saying she has demonstrated the capacity to manage multiple projects across several constituencies.
He further indicated that Anthony Smith is likely to remain in agriculture, where he said government is investing tens of millions of dollars.
Browne said adjustments will be made in other areas, particularly with new ministers, some of whom may first serve as junior ministers as part of their training and development.
He said the intention is not to create a bloated government, but to allow new members to gain experience before eventually moving into senior ministerial roles.
