U.S. Congratulates PM Browne, Signals Continued Security Cooperation
The United States has extended congratulations to Prime Minister Gaston Browne following his re-election victory, while signaling its intent to strengthen bilateral cooperation on key regional issues.
In a statement issued by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Washington acknowledged Browne’s electoral success and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with Antigua and Barbuda.
The statement noted that both countries are expected to continue working closely on shared priorities, particularly in the areas of regional security and law enforcement.
These efforts include deeper collaboration to combat illegal immigration, transnational criminal networks, and illicit trafficking.
According to the U.S. State Department, strengthening cooperation in these areas is critical to promoting stability and security across the wider Caribbean and the hemisphere.
The message comes as Browne begins his new term following a decisive victory at the polls, with international partners already signaling their willingness to engage the administration on ongoing and emerging challenges.
