Family and supporters of Kahleel Simon to hold another protest outside of Police headquarters

The family of slain teenager Kahleel Simon is once again preparing to stage a public demonstration outside Police Headquarters as they continue their calls for justice following his fatal police shooting last year.

A flyer circulating on social media announces a “Justice for Kahleel Simon” picket scheduled for Friday, May 29 at 3:00 p.m. outside Police Headquarters on American Road.

The event is being organized by Simon’s relatives and supporters, who have repeatedly maintained that they will not stop protesting until they receive what they believe are clear answers and accountability surrounding his death.

Simon, an 18-year-old resident of Bolans, was shot and killed by police on August 27, 2025 — the same day he celebrated his birthday.

His death sparked outrage in Bolans and surrounding communities, with relatives alleging that he was not given a proper opportunity to surrender before deadly force was used.

Since the fatal incident, the family has organized several demonstrations outside Police Headquarters and other locations demanding transparency into the investigation. Reports indicate that at least four major pickets have already been held since the shooting, with organizers insisting the protests will continue until justice is served.

The latest demonstration is expected to once again draw relatives, friends, community members, and supporters carrying placards and demanding accountability from authorities.

Police have previously confirmed that the matter remains under investigation.

However, Simon’s family has repeatedly expressed frustration over what they consider to be slow progress and limited public updates into the case.
