Jet Ski Explosion at Hawksbill Leaves Man With Severe Burns
A young man is receiving medical treatment for severe burn injuries after a jet ski explosion at Hawksbill Beach on Friday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses say the incident happened offshore when the jet ski, being operated by the man, suddenly caught fire and exploded. Beachgoers described hearing a loud bang before seeing flames engulf the watercraft and its rider.
Several people on the beach rushed to alert emergency services, while others attempted to assist from the shoreline as the situation unfolded near Hawksbill Beach.
At this stage, it is not yet clear what caused the explosion. Authorities have not confirmed whether it was the result of a mechanical fault, fuel ignition, or another technical issue.
The injured man was pulled from the water and transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, where he is being treated for what officials have described as serious burn injuries. His condition has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities are expected to carry out an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
