Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a 56-year-old Cooks Hill man whose body was discovered outside his home on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Dion Francis.

According to the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, officers were dispatched to the residence after receiving information that raised concern for the man’s welfare. Upon arrival, officers reported detecting a foul odor coming from the property, prompting a search of the premises.

During the search, the body of Francis was found lying motionless in the northwestern section of the yard. Police said the body was in the early stages of decomposition.

Initial observations at the scene revealed no visible signs of violence, and investigators have stated there is currently no evidence suggesting foul play.

Police said Francis was last seen alive on Tuesday, May 26. A medical doctor later visited the scene and officially pronounced him dead at approximately 8:46 p.m. on Friday.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death, and investigations remain ongoing as officers continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the discovery.

The Royal Police Force extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and has asked the public to respect their privacy during the grieving period.
