Health Advisory in place due to Saharan Dust
Residents, especially those with asthma and other respiratory conditions, are being advised to reduce prolonged outdoor activity as another wave of Saharan Dust is expected to affect Antigua and Barbuda from later tonight through Wednesday.
The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services says air quality across the country is likely to deteriorate to Moderate levels, with the Air Quality Index forecast to range between 60 and 80. Authorities have issued an Air Pollution Alert Level II in response to the incoming dust plume.
According to forecasters, this marks the ninth significant Saharan Dust event to impact the country so far in 2026.
While the overall health risk remains low for the general population, officials warn that sensitive groups could experience irritation or breathing difficulties due to increased dust particles in the atmosphere. Those most at risk include children, elderly residents, outdoor workers, and individuals with heart or respiratory illnesses.
Health officials are encouraging vulnerable persons to pay close attention to symptoms and remain indoors where possible if conditions worsen. People living with asthma or other respiratory issues are also urged to keep prescribed medication readily available.

Please be safe all and stay in doors if you cannot manage the air quality outside
