An 11-year-old boy was reportedly beaten during an attempted robbery in Golden Grove Extension after refusing to give up his bicycle to a group of young men.

The incident is said to have occurred around 5 p.m. on June 5. According to observer, four young men approached the child and attempted to take his bicycle.

The boy reportedly resisted and held on to the bicycle, prompting the attackers to strike him repeatedly about the body with a glass bottle.

Despite the assault, the suspects were unable to take the bicycle and eventually fled the area.

The matter was later brought to the attention of police by a relative of the child, who reported the incident to investigators.
