CBH Makes Fresh Appeal for Family to Claim Unclaimed Body
The Central Board of Health (CBH) is once again appealing to relatives of a deceased woman to come forward and make arrangements for her burial, warning that the government may be forced to intervene if no action is taken.
In a public notice issued through the Office of the Chief Health Inspector, CBH identified the deceased as Silvie Martin of Grays Farm Village, who passed away on April 4, 2026.
Her body remains unclaimed and is currently being stored at Barnes Funeral Home on American Road.
CBH is urging family members or next of kin to contact Jessica Barnes, Managing Director of Barnes Funeral Home Limited, at 462-1037 to make arrangements for a private buria
According to the notice, relatives have 14 days from the publication of the appeal to claim the body. If no family member comes forward within that period, the government will proceed with the burial of the deceased at a public cemetery without further notice.
The statement further warned that once the burial has taken place, legal action regarding the matter will no longer be an option.
The latest appeal highlights an issue that has become increasingly common in recent years, with health authorities repeatedly calling on families to claim the bodies of deceased relatives and make the necessary funeral arrangements.
CBH said it is seeking the cooperation and understanding of affected families as it works to address what it described as a sensitive and delicate matter.
