Preparations for Antigua Carnival 2026 have entered a new phase with the arrival and assembly of what organizers are describing as the largest stage in the Caribbean.

Based on reports by state media, construction is now underway at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG), where crews are working to transform the venue into the heart of Carnival celebrations. The project marks the beginning of the development of Carnival City, which is expected to serve as a central hub for performances and entertainment during the festival.

The massive stage structure is being assembled by Sound 2000 of St. Maarten in collaboration with local technicians. Once completed, it is expected to significantly enhance the production capabilities available for Antigua Carnival events.

According to Sound 2000 Managing Director Earl “Churchie” York, the stage can be expanded to dimensions of 150 feet by 50 feet and reach heights of up to 40 feet. The design incorporates major production elements under a single roof, creating a more efficient setup for concerts, pageants, and other large-scale events.

York said the project is also providing valuable training opportunities for local workers, who are gaining hands-on experience in the assembly, dismantling, and maintenance of the structure.

The new stage is expected to deliver a striking visual presence while providing sound, lighting, and production teams with greater flexibility to create memorable experiences for patrons.

As work continues at the ARG, anticipation is building for Antigua Carnival 2026, with organizers promising an exciting season of music, culture, and entertainment under the theme “Feel the Rhythm.”
