In an official statement issued on Friday, the Medical Association of Antigua and Barbuda (MAAB) expressed profound sadness at the sudden passing of the respected surgeon, describing him as a dedicated medical professional whose contributions to healthcare spanned decades.
According to the Association, Dr. Krishnan remained actively involved in the medical field up to the time of his death, continuing his work at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre while also managing his private practice.
The MAAB praised Dr. Krishnan as a highly skilled surgeon whose expertise earned the admiration of colleagues throughout the healthcare sector. Beyond his clinical accomplishments, the Association highlighted his role as a mentor, advisor, and source of guidance for many medical professionals across Antigua and Barbuda.
“Dr. Krishnan was a charismatic doctor and a master of his craft,” the statement noted, adding that his influence extended far beyond the operating theatre through his willingness to support and mentor others in the profession.
The Association also extended condolences to his wife, Dr. Saravana Sabharmathi, his children, and the wider family, acknowledging the tremendous loss being felt by relatives, colleagues, patients, and friends.
The passing of Dr. Krishnan has prompted an outpouring of grief within the medical community, where he was widely respected for his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to patient care.
On behalf of its executive and general membership, the MAAB said its thoughts and prayers remain with all those affected by his passing as the nation reflects on the legacy of a physician who devoted his life to serving others.
