With exactly one month to go before the first parade hits the streets, anticipation is building across Antigua and Barbuda as organisers prepare to welcome thousands of visitors and returning nationals for Antigua Carnival 2026.

Running from July 25 to August 4 under the theme “Feel the Rhythm,” this year’s festival promises eleven days of music, culture, pageantry and non-stop entertainment, reinforcing its reputation as the Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival.

The celebration will once again transform St. John’s and communities across the island into a hub of colour and energy, with steelpan, calypso, soca and traditional masquerade taking centre stage alongside popular fetes and cultural events.

Chair of the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission, Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul, said this year’s carnival offers more than entertainment, describing it as an opportunity for visitors to experience the country’s culture firsthand.

Antigua Carnival 2026 invites the world to ‘Feel the Rhythm’ as we host the Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival. Visitors can immerse themselves in the heartbeat of Antigua and Barbuda through vibrant celebrations, energetic performances of steelpan, soca, calypso, mas, and authentic cultural experiences that capture the true rhythm of the Caribbean,” Makhoul said.

She added that this year’s festivities also begin the countdown to a significant milestone, with Antigua Carnival celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2027.

Chief Marketing Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Charmaine Spencer, said Carnival remains one of the country’s strongest tourism draws, giving travellers the chance to combine the destination’s beaches with its vibrant cultural offerings.

Coupled with our stunning beaches, a visit during Antigua Carnival, presents the perfect summer getaway for travellers seeking relaxing beach days and evenings filled with the rhythm of the Carnival. It is the ideal combination of relaxation, culture and festivities,” Spencer said.

This year’s programme features a packed calendar of events, beginning with the official opening of Carnival City and T-Shirt Mas before moving into Junior Carnival, Panorama, Calypso Monarch, Party Monarch, J’ouvert and the spectacular Carnival Monday and Tuesday parades.

One of the most highly anticipated events will be “Face Off: Antigua vs. Dominica” on July 24, where legendary Antiguan band Burning Flames will share the stage with Dominica’s renowned bouyon powerhouse Triple K International.

Regional soca stars Patrice Roberts, Machel Montano, Voice, Skinny Fabulous and Muddy are also scheduled to perform, alongside Antigua and Barbuda’s own Tian Winter and Tizzy, promising a lineup that organisers believe will keep the energy high throughout the festival.

Steelpan will also remain a major feature of the celebrations, with Panorama showcasing the country’s top orchestras in one of Carnival’s most anticipated competitions.

As excitement continues to build, organisers are encouraging travellers to secure flights and accommodations early as demand increases ahead of what is expected to be another vibrant edition of Antigua Carnival.

The festival runs from July 25 to August 4, culminating with the traditional Last Lap, bringing another chapter of Antigua and Barbuda’s premier cultural celebration to a close before attention turns to Carnival’s landmark 70th anniversary celebrations in 2027.
