Antigua and Barbuda is set to receive a significant boost to its healthcare services following the formalization of an agreement with Chinese-based He Vision Group for the donation of specialized eye care equipment.
The equipment, which is currently being prepared for shipment to Antigua and Barbuda, is expected to significantly enhance the country’s ophthalmic services by expanding access to specialized diagnostic and treatment options for patients.
Minister Joseph welcomed the partnership, describing it as an important investment in the nation’s healthcare system.
“This partnership represents an important step in strengthening eye care services within our healthcare system. We are grateful to He Vision Group for this generous contribution and look forward to the arrival of the equipment, which will support improved eye health outcomes for the people of Antigua and Barbuda,” the minister said.
Beyond the donation, discussions also focused on opportunities for future collaboration in ophthalmology, blindness prevention initiatives, medical training, and the expansion of specialized eye care services across Antigua and Barbuda.
He Vision Group is internationally recognized for its contributions to ophthalmology and eye care innovation, operating a network of hospitals, research institutions, and medical training programmes dedicated to preventing blindness and advancing specialized eye health services.
The Ministry of Health said it looks forward to deepening its relationship with He Vision Group as both sides work toward enhancing eye care delivery and improving access to quality healthcare services for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
The agreement was confirmed during a high-level meeting involving Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs, Michael Joseph; Founder of He Vision Group, Dr. He Wei; Assistant to the President and Director of the company’s Social Responsibility Department, Ms. Helen Yan; Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Clement Antonio; and Grenada’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Ian Marshall.
