ACTIF2026 Postponed Over Public Health Concerns; Antigua and Barbuda Delegation Affected

The Fifth Annual AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2026), which was expected to attract a significant delegation from Antigua and Barbuda, including Prime Minister Gaston Browne, has been postponed due to evolving public health concerns in parts of Africa.

The forum, organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis, had been scheduled to take place in Basseterre from July 29 to 31, 2026.

In a statement, the organisers said the decision followed the latest guidance from regional, continental and international public health authorities regarding the changing public health situation in several African countries.

They said postponing the event was the most responsible course of action to protect the health and well-being of delegates, speakers, sponsors, partners and other participants.

Antigua and Barbuda was expected to have one of the largest official representations at the forum, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne among the government officials and business leaders who had been preparing to attend the high-level trade and investment gathering.

The annual forum has become an important platform for strengthening commercial and investment ties between Africa and the Caribbean, bringing together heads of government, policymakers, investors and private sector leaders to explore new opportunities for economic cooperation.

The organisers acknowledged the extensive preparations already undertaken by delegates and stakeholders and said the decision to postpone the event was made only after careful consideration.

They also thanked participants, sponsors and partners for their continued support and understanding, while apologising for the inconvenience caused.

Afreximbank and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis said a new date for ACTIF2026 will be announced through their official communication channels once it is determined.

Participants and stakeholders have been advised to monitor the forum’s official website for further updates.

  1. I would have expected that. That’s the safest decision to make
