Child Rights Ambassadors workshop hosted by Family and Social Services Division within the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation
ST JOHN’S, Antigua — The Family and Social Services Division within the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation is hosting a week-long Child Rights Ambassadors workshop, held Monday, 13 July, through Friday, 17 July, bringing together young Antiguans and Barbudans to explore photography as a tool for storytelling and rights advocacy.
The workshop is being delivered in partnership with UNICEF Eastern Caribbean and is the fourth of its kind held in the region.

Participants are being trained in the fundamentals of photography from building an image around a single clear message, composition, working with light, and capturing real detail before they move into the community from Wednesday to document the child rights issues that matter most to them.
The week closes Friday with participants presenting their strongest work, followed by a closing ceremony.
Speaking on the workshop, Patrick Knight, Communication Specialist at UNICEF Eastern Caribbean, says, “The programme gives children a creative outlet to show how their rights are being upheld or challenged in their own communities, grounded in the Convention on the Rights of the Child’s guarantee of a child’s right to expression.”
