Firefighters are being praised for their swift response after a fast-moving bush fire threatened several homes on Upper Fort Road over the weekend.

The fire reportedly started after someone set dry bushes ablaze. Fueled by the dry vegetation, the flames spread rapidly and came dangerously close to nearby houses, raising fears that the blaze could engulf the residential area.

Fire crews responded promptly and were able to bring the fire under control before it reached the homes, preventing what could have been a major disaster.

No injuries or structural damage have been reported. The cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed, but residents are once again being urged to exercise caution when burning vegetation, particularly during dry conditions, as even small fires can quickly become uncontrollable.
