CBH Makes Fresh Appeal for Family to Claim Unclaimed Body
The Office of the Chief Health Inspector is appealing to the public for help in locating the relatives of four deceased individuals whose bodies have remained unclaimed for months.
In a public notice, the office said the bodies are currently being stored at Straffies Funeral Home on St. John’s Street while authorities await contact from next of kin.
The deceased have been identified as Gintaras Lokocikas, whose body was received into care on May 16, 2025; Kelvin Anthony, received on June 10, 2025; Vernon Hippolyte, received on April 6, 2026; and George Phillis, received on April 24, 2026.
Family members are being urged to contact Straffies Funeral Home by calling 462-0575 to make arrangements for a private burial.
Health officials have warned that if no relatives come forward within 14 days of the publication of the notice, the Government will move forward with burying the deceased in a public cemetery.
The Office of the Chief Health Inspector also cautioned that once the burials have taken place, no legal action regarding the matter will be entertained.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may be related to the deceased to contact Straffies Funeral Home as soon as possible to avoid the need for government-arranged interments.
