A 40-year-old Mount Joy man is in police custody after allegedly shooting a 66-year-old Villa resident during an incident on Monday evening.
The suspect reportedly walked into the Parham Police Station at about 6:45 p.m. on July 13 and informed officers that he had been involved in a shooting. Police immediately took him into custody and seized a firearm believed to be connected to the incident.
The injured man was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre after suffering a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest. He remains hospitalized in stable condition while receiving treatment.
Police have not released details about what led to the shooting, and investigators are continuing to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Mount Joy man is being held on suspicion of Shooting with Intent as detectives continue their inquiries.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to contact the Parham Police Station at 463-2060, the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 800-TIPS (8477).
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
