No Live Carnival on ABS: Mandatory 24-Hour Broadcast Delay Ordered

15 July 2026 - 11:55

The Antigua Broadcasting Service (ABS) has announced that it will be unable to air live coverage of Antigua Carnival 2026 events following a directive requiring a mandatory 24-hour delay in the rebroadcast of all official carnival shows.

In a programming notice issued to viewers, ABS said the decision was made in compliance with an order mandating that all Carnival 2026 shows be broadcast only after a 24-hour delay.

The station emphasized that the restriction is beyond its control and expressed regret for any inconvenience the change may cause to viewers who were anticipating live coverage of the festival’s major events.

“ABS has received an order mandating a 24-hour delay in the rebroadcasting of Antigua Carnival 2026 shows,” the notice stated. “This is outside our control and we regret any inconvenience this may cause.”

The programming change means audiences will not be able to watch Carnival events live on ABS but will instead have access to delayed broadcasts beginning 24 hours after each event takes place.

ABS has not indicated whether the directive will affect all Carnival events throughout the festival or whether alternative viewing arrangements will be available. Viewers are encouraged to monitor the station’s programming schedule and official platforms for updates.
