Antigua and Barbuda is preparing to welcome thousands of cricket fans from across the Caribbean and beyond as the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) returns to the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium from August 20 to 25, bringing with it six days of top-class cricket, entertainment and Carnival-inspired festivities.

The twin-island nation, proudly branded as the “Home of Party Cricket,” will host four Antigua and Barbuda Falcons home fixtures, with organisers promising an atmosphere that blends thrilling Twenty20 action with the vibrant energy for which Antigua’s CPL experience has become known.

The Falcons will begin their home campaign on Thursday, August 20, against the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots before taking on the Trinbago Knight Riders on August 22, the Guyana Amazon Warriors on August 23, and the Barbados Tridents on August 25. All matches will bowl off at 7 p.m. at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Officials say the tournament continues to play a significant role in promoting Antigua and Barbuda as a premier sports tourism destination.

Chief Marketing Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Charmaine Spencer, said hosting CPL goes beyond cricket by creating opportunities to attract visitors, encourage longer stays and showcase the country’s diverse tourism offerings.

She noted that sports tourism remains an important pillar of the destination’s marketing strategy, allowing visitors to experience not only world-class cricket but also Antigua and Barbuda’s renowned hospitality, beaches, culture and attractions.

Meanwhile, Brand and Marketing Communications Manager for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, Sabrina Webster, said this year’s campaign, “Come for the Fete, Stay for the Match,” is designed to give supporters an unforgettable experience both inside and outside the stadium.

According to Webster, fans can enjoy a variety of match-day experiences, including the energetic Party Stand, the popular Grass Mound and premium hospitality suites, ensuring there is something for every type of spectator.

She added that the excitement continues long after the final ball is bowled, with visitors encouraged to explore Antigua and Barbuda’s award-winning beaches, local cuisine, island adventures and historic attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nelson’s Dockyard.

Tourism officials believe the combination of cricket and destination experiences makes CPL one of the country’s flagship sporting events and an important driver of visitor arrivals during the late summer season.

Tickets for all CPL matches in Antigua and Barbuda are available through the official CPL ticketing platform, RUBIS Service Stations and the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
