The Antigua and Barbuda Evangelical Alliance (ABEA) will today take its prayers across the nation, with relief from the ongoing drought among the issues that will receive special attention during its annual Emancipation Day Prayer-cade.

The islandwide motorcade will get underway at 3:30 p.m. from the Old Parliament Building and will make stops at several locations as members of the Christian community pray for Antigua and Barbuda.

First Vice President of the ABEA, Rev. Michael Aubrey, said the Prayer-cade will include ten stops across the country, with prayers focusing on various challenges affecting communities and the wider nation.

One of the significant stops will be at Pot Works Dam, where participants will specifically pray for increased rainfall as Antigua and Barbuda continues to grapple with drought conditions.

The prayers for rain come amid concerns about the impact of prolonged dry conditions on the country’s water supply, agriculture and other areas of daily life.

Organisers say the annual Prayer-cade forms part of the Evangelical Alliance’s observance of Emancipation Day and provides an opportunity for Christians to collectively seek divine intervention on matters affecting the nation.

Throughout today’s journey, participants will stop at designated locations to pray for communities and the country, with the Pot Works Dam gathering expected to place particular emphasis on the need for much-needed rainfall.

The motorcade is expected to bring together members of various evangelical churches as they commemorate Emancipation and pray for the continued well-being and development of Antigua and Barbuda.
