Evangelical Alliance wants no evil interference in the elections

Residents have been called upon to engage in a time of prayer and fasting this Sunday coming, ahead of the general elections in Antigua and Barbuda

The Antigua and Barbuda Evangelical Alliance (ABEA) said as “ we quickly approach the date of the general elections, we call on our members and indeed every citizen of the nation to engage in supplication before the throne of God”

ABEA said they acknowledge that in an environment where various parties are contesting for very important positions that there is the possibility of heightened tension and aggravation in the society.

“We are therefore, asking almighty God to intervene and have his way during the entire process. Pastors and Church leaders are being asked to allow time for specific prayers during their church services over the coming weekend, focusing on the will of God being done throughout the entire election process and that there be no evil interference with the process”

The evangelical association said too that when residents are engaged in that prayer and fast, they pray that the electorate will feel a sense of freedom and liberty to exercise their democratic rights and that there will be absolutely no violence around the polling stations or any other place which will be designated for use in the process.

The prayer and focus should also be that peace be established in the land, that there will be protection for all, especially our senior citizens as they journey to and from voting and that the process will be free and fair, and that the results will be accepted by everyone at the end of it all. Also, that we will be united as one people.

Residents are voting to elect a new leader on January 18th, 2023.
