Former Ottos Comprehensive School standout Axleigh Akez has achieved another academic milestone, becoming the recipient of both the Grant Thornton Accounting and Business Awards for her outstanding performance in the 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.

Akez, who emerged as the 2025 Top CSEC Student at Ottos Comprehensive School, made history by securing both awards presented annually by Grant Thornton to high-performing students in Accounting and Business.

She formally received the awards during a brief handover ceremony recently, at Grant Thornton’s offices on Old Parham Road.

The annual initiative forms part of the accounting firm’s commitment to supporting education and recognising students who demonstrate excellence and potential in the fields of Accounting and Business.

Akez is now a second-year matriculated student at the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS), where she is continuing her academic journey in the School of Business and Accounting.

The young scholar has expressed her determination to continue pursuing her studies with perseverance and dedication as she works towards achieving her long-term academic and professional goals.

Akez has also credited her faith as an important part of her success, expressing gratitude to Jehovah God for the opportunities and accomplishments she has received.

Her family, relatives, friends and loved ones have expressed immense pride in her achievements and have pledged their continued support as she works towards fulfilling her ambitions.

The initiative by Grant Thornton has also received praise for providing meaningful encouragement to students of Ottos Comprehensive School who are interested in pursuing careers in Accounting, Business and related fields.

Through its annual awards, the firm continues to demonstrate the important role the private sector can play in investing in young people and encouraging academic excellence.

Akez’s achievement is particularly significant as she captured both awards in the same year, adding another accomplishment to an already impressive academic record and setting an example for other students aspiring to excel in business and accounting
