Over 600 Students Participate in Student Council Elections at Ottos Comprehensive
More than 600 students from Forms 1 to 5 at the Ottos Comprehensive School took part in the 2025 Student Council Elections, marking another successful exercise in student leadership and civic engagement.
Representatives from the partnering civic organization Ms. Saralee L. Davis, Ms. Jocelyn Peters, Ms. Kiyana Edwards, Mr. Steve Henry, and Ms. Shupet Spencer, were present on the school compound to oversee the voting process and provide support throughout the day.

Their presence ensured transparency, order, and guidance as students exercised their right to vote and select their peers for leadership roles.
The initiative forms part of the organization’s broader Civic Education outreach programme, which promotes active citizenship and democratic participation among young people.

By mentoring schools through the election process, the group aims to instill values of leadership, responsibility, and accountability in the nation’s youth.
ABEC commended the Ottos Comprehensive administration and students for their enthusiastic participation, noting that such activities play a key role in preparing the next generation of leaders

Love seeing young people getting involved in leadership early! That’s how future leaders are built.
This is what positive youth development looks like. Congrats to everyone who took part

I didn’t know school council elections was a big thing that deserved a public audience. Well now I know I will act accordingly.
Congratulations to those chosen to represent the voice of their peers
I can imagine the excitement and nerves around the voting process. Elections are a small but important way for students to experience democracy firsthand. May the best candidates win and serve responsibly.
