Police Seize Firearm, Ammunition and Cannabis in Coordinated Operations

Several people have been arrested following a series of intelligence-led police operations in Parham and Jennings that resulted in the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, cannabis and other items of interest.

On Wednesday, August 12, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force and K-9 Unit executed a search warrant at a farm in the Parham area.

During the operation, police reportedly discovered a firearm with several rounds of matching ammunition, four cellular phones, and a bow with several arrows.

Two people who were present at the farm were arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. They were taken into police custody as investigations continued.

In a separate operation, police searched a residence in Parham and found a quantity of cannabis and camouflage clothing. Two people were arrested on suspicion of cannabis possession.

Officers also executed a search warrant at a property in Jennings, where they seized additional cannabis and camouflage clothing. One person was subsequently arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of cannabis.

The Police Administration said the operations demonstrate the Force’s increasingly proactive, coordinated and intelligence-driven approach to tackling serious and organised criminal activity.

Police said particular attention is being given to the proliferation and unlawful use of firearms, violent crime, drug-related offences and individuals suspected of involvement in serious criminal activity.

Residents should expect an increased police presence and further targeted operations in communities across Antigua and Barbuda.
