St. George Community Clean-Up Campaign Expands to Pigotts and Paynters West

A large-scale bulk-waste removal and community clean-up campaign across St. George is set to expand into Pigotts and Paynters West as efforts continue to improve sanitation and prepare communities for the hurricane season.
According to St. George MP Michael Freeland, teams have spent the past two weeks working in Potters, where drains were cleared, accumulated waste removed and 36 abandoned properties cleaned as part of the initiative.
Freeland praised workers from the National Solid Waste Management Authority and the Ministry of Public Works for their efforts during the Potters phase of the campaign.
Beginning Friday, the teams are expected to move into Pigotts and Paynters West, where similar clean-up activities will be carried out.
The initiative is intended to reduce potential hazards ahead of the hurricane season, improve public health conditions and enhance the overall appearance of communities throughout the constituency.
Freeland said the campaign will continue to expand in the coming weeks, with Barnes Hill and New Winthorpes next on the schedule.
Work in those communities is expected to begin in approximately two weeks and will include the removal of derelict homes and the cleaning of neighbourhood spaces, with assistance from teams attached to Housing and Public Works.
The campaign forms part of a wider effort to address accumulated waste, abandoned properties and other environmental concerns across St. George.
“Together, we are building cleaner, safer and stronger communities,” Freeland said.
