The National Public Library is heading into the new academic year with a major upgrade to its technology resources following the arrival of a donation of computers and other equipment on Saturday.
The shipment, which arrived in Antigua and Barbuda aboard a U.S. Air Force aircraft, includes computers, cameras, printers and telephones that will be added to the library’s existing resources.
Director of the National Public Library Rhyllis Mannix said the additional equipment is expected to make a noticeable difference for people who rely on the facility, particularly by reducing the time users have to wait for access to devices.
The timing of the donation is also significant, coming just days before the start of the 2026 academic year, when students are expected to make greater use of the library for research, assignments and other academic needs.
With more devices available, the library will be better positioned to accommodate students and other members of the public who depend on its technology and services.
Mannix thanked Ralph Mims, President of R. Mims World Group, for helping to make the donation possible.
The new equipment is expected to strengthen the National Public Library’s capacity to provide technology-based services and improve access for the wider public.

If the library sees those equipment and devices that would be great. Knowing this government, those donations are going somewhere else in another government department, just like what done with the Barbuda hurricane relief donations.
