Three Legends Gone: Entertainment World Mourns Parton, Curry and Cullen
The entertainment world is mourning the loss of three celebrated stars following the deaths of Dolly Parton, Tim Curry and Peter Cullen within the space of two days.
Parton, one of country music’s most recognisable and influential figures, died on Tuesday, August 25, at the age of 80. The singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist built a career spanning more than six decades, becoming known around the world for songs including Jolene and 9 to 5.
A day later, on Wednesday, August 26, British actor Tim Curry died at the age of 80.
Curry became a cult favourite through his portrayal of Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. His extensive career also included memorable roles in Clue, Home Alone 2 and It, as well as numerous voice acting performances.
That same day, legendary voice actor Peter Cullen died at the age of 85.
Cullen was best known as the unmistakable voice of Optimus Prime, a character he first voiced in the original Transformers animated series in 1984 and continued portraying for decades. He was also well known for voicing Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh productions.
The deaths of Parton, Curry and Cullen in such quick succession have brought a sombre period for fans across the entertainment world.
Though they made their names in different areas of the industry, all three became cultural icons whose work entertained generations and left a lasting legacy in music, film, television and animation.

RIP to them all.
