Police Hunt Suspects in Hatton Shooting and Brownie’s Bakery Robbery

Published

Police are pursuing suspects in two separate violent incidents on Tuesday night, including the shooting of a Weatherhills Estate man who managed to drive himself to hospital despite suffering two gunshot wounds.

Trevor Underwood was reportedly sitting inside his vehicle near Bruce’s Night Club in Hatton when he was shot at about 10:45 p.m.

Despite his injuries, Underwood drove himself to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where doctors treated him for two gunshot wounds to the lower abdomen.

He was listed in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery.

The shooting came just hours after a masked gunman robbed Brownie’s Bakery in Potters.

Police said the lone assailant entered the bakery at around 7:45 p.m. and robbed the cashier of an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing.

The suspect is described as about five feet nine inches tall and slimly built. He was reportedly wearing a red long-sleeved hoodie, sunglasses and gloves, with a red bandanna covering his face.

After leaving the bakery on foot, the gunman reportedly got into a silver Honda Accord, which then drove away from the area.

Police have not indicated whether they believe the two incidents are connected.

Investigators are now appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident, saw suspicious activity in the Potters or Hatton areas, or has information that could help identify those involved to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-TIPS (8477), or the nearest police station.

Investigations into both incidents are continuing.
