18-Year-Old David McDonald
Nearly two months after 60-year-old businessman Mordecai Eleazer Francis was gunned down inside his Freeman’s Village supermarket, police have made a major breakthrough in the investigation.
David McDonald, an 18-year-old resident of Golden Grove, has been arrested and charged with Francis’ murder.
Francis, who was from Swetes, was fatally shot at Risk Takers Supermarket on Thursday, July 23.
Police were called to the business at approximately 8:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Francis unresponsive inside the supermarket with apparent gunshot wounds.
The killing triggered an investigation involving the Serious Crimes Unit and other members of the Criminal Investigations Department.
Police announced on Tuesday that those investigations resulted in McDonald’s arrest and subsequent murder charge.
Authorities have not disclosed what allegedly led to the shooting or any further circumstances surrounding the killing.
McDonald is expected to appear before the court sometime this week.
The Police Administration has thanked members of the public for their continued cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation.
